The original is a woodblock print based on the theme of Chinese shunga, created using the same techniques as ukiyo-e.
Chinese Shunga are often modeled after people living in the imperial court, and often depict open courtyards or semi-outdoor spaces. The idyllic sexual depictions in these Chinese shunga paintings are metaphorically expressed and finished in a chinoiserie style.

SUMIFUDE
A printmaker whose activities are not limited to woodblocks and Japanese paper. He views the concept of printing in a broad sense, and does not limit the medium to "blocks and paper," but instead copies Japanese culture and nature in a cross-disciplinary manner.
He has exhibited both domestically and internationally, including a solo exhibition in the tokonoma alcove of the Yuhikaku Kodokan, a sukiya-style building in Kyoto, and at the Milan Salone.
