We want to let more people know that you can easily enjoy DIY wallpaper even if you're renting!
That's why we have released a new non-woven wallpaper material that is even easier to apply.

Compact, durable peel-off fleece wallpaper can be applied neatly over existing vinyl wallpaper and then removed.
In this article, we will introduce the characteristics of removable fleece wallpaper and the steps to apply it using removable glue.

Why we recommend reusable non-woven wallpaper

POINT 01: Durable and easy to apply

hagaseru-p1
The material (non-woven fabric) is made of intertwined synthetic fibers making it durable and resistent and therefore easy for even beginners to handle.
The width of the wallpaper is 49cm. The size is even more compact than typical domestic wallpaper (approximately 92cm) or imported wallpaper (approximately 53cm), making it easier to apply.

POINT 02: Suitable for rental properties! Easy to apply and remove neatly

hagaseru-p2
If you use wallpaper glue ( PoteGlue ), that can be applied over regular vinyl wallpaper, it is easy to apply and remove neatly, so you can try DIY wallpaper projects even if you're a renter.

Removable glue makes it easy to make subtle positional adjustments, and many people find this installation method easier to apply than sticker wallpaper. Perfect for your first wallpaper challenge.

If the wallpaper is coated with a stain preventive coating or something similar, it may not stick well.
Please note that depending on the condition of the wallpaper, it may damage the surface.

POINT 03: Matte texture

st-sw02-sk
The surface is smooth to the touch and has a matte texture.
Since it is not a vinyl material, there is no unpleasant shine or vinyl odor.

Dark colored designs may have a slight sheen due to the characteristics of the material.

POINT 04: Efforts to reduce environmental impact

Because we manufacture only for the orders received, we are able to reduce waste without overstocking.
The wallpaper materials and inks do not contain any PVC or plasticizers.
The ink, also used in food packaging, is highly safe and is manufactured using a carbon-neutral process that utilizes green energy.

Before applying wallpaper! Things to check before installation

  • If the base wallpaper has been treated to be dirt or water resistant, it may not stick well.
  • Depending on the condition of the material, it may damage the base or leave adhesive residue when removed. Please test it in an inconspicuous place before applying.
  • We recommend application on walls with a smooth and firm surface.

How much do I need? How to calculate the amount needed

The removable fleece wallpaper comes in two patterns: width 49cm and length 250cm/300cm.
You can purchase as many panels as you need.

Measure the width (cm) of the wall you want to install and divide it by the width of the fleece wallpaper (49cm) to find the number of panels you need.
Please order in decimal numbers rounded up to the nearest panel.

*The size varies depending on the room even if the number of tatami mats is the same. Please measure the actual wall size to confirm the number of panels required.

How to apply

hagaseru-wallpaper_01
  1. Make glue by measuring the specified amount of water and glue powder. It can be applied neatly with the appropriate concentration of glue. Add the glue powder while stirring the water to avoid lumps.
hagaseru-wallpaper_02
  1. Stir well until thick.
hagaseru-wallpaper_03
  1. Cut the wallpaper along the cutting lines. Leave the panel number uncut.
hagaseru-wallpaper_04
  1. Check that the serial numbers written next to <↑↑ TOP ↑↑> are in order.
hagaseru-wallpaper_05
  1. Apply the glue wider than the width of the wallpaper. Use a brush to paint corners and other areas that are difficult to apply with a paint roller.
hagaseru-wallpaper_06
  1. Apply the wallpaper starting from the left edge of the wall.
Paste <↑↑ TOP ↑↑> on top, leaving some extra space above and below.
hagaseru-wallpaper_07
  1. Use a smoother to remove all the air from the surface.
hagaseru-wallpaper_08
  1. Use a smoother to make visible creases where the wall meets the ceiling.
hagaseru-wallpaper_09
  1. Use the smoother as a guide and cut off the excess with a cutter.
hagaseru-wallpaper_10
  1. Cut off the excess at the bottom as well.
hagaseru-wallpaper_11
  1. Apply glue to the wall and apply the second sheet. Turn up the edge of the first wallpaper a little and apply more glue so that the edges can be glued firmly.
hagaseru-wallpaper_12
  1. Apply the second sheet of wallpaper, aligning the edges with the first one. If you have a pattern, please match it. Apply with about 0.5mm of overlap so that there will be no gaps at the joints due to expansion and contraction after drying.
hagaseru-wallpaper_13
  1. Use a seam roller to firmly press down the seams.
hagaseru-wallpaper_14
  1. Continue pasting the third and subsequent sheets in the same manner.
hagaseru-wallpaper_15
  1. Wipe off any glue that has gotten onto the surface of the wallpaper or the ceiling with a lightly damp sponge (wet it and then wring it out firmly.)

Finish!!

How to insert washi tape to prevent gaps

As the wallpaper contains moisture from the glue and shrinks slightly as it dries, there may be a gap of approximately 0.5 mm at the joints of the wallpaper.
You can reduce gaps by placing washi tape in the joints.
We recommend using washi tape, especially for designs with dark colors or solid colors that tend to have gaps.

washi-tape-01
  1. Immediately after applying the second piece of wallpaper, lift up one side of the wallpaper before the glue dries.
washi-tape-02
  1. Place the washi tape so that the center is directly underneath the seam.
washi-tape-03
  1. Put back the side of the wallpaper you lifted up.
washi-tape-04
  1. Lift up the wallpaper over on the other side, making sure the adhesive side does not touch the washi tape.
washi-tape-05
  1. Apply washi tape to the underlay and replace the unfolded wallpaper.
washi-tape-06
  1. Press down the seams with your seam roller.
Repeat the same procedure for the third and subsequent sheets.

How to remove peelable fleece wallpaper

hagaseru-wallpaper_17
  1. Slowly peel off the wallpaper starting from one edge.
hagaseru-wallpaper_18
  1. Wipe off any remaining glue on the wall with water.
hagaseru-wallpaper_19
  1. Wallpaper that has been peeled off cleanly can be reused.
